Make it 14 blowout wins for the Hopewell Blue Devils this season. They blew past Meadowbrook, posting a 57-11 win on the road. Given Hopewell's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while the Monarchs are ranked 356th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hopewell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Erin Edmonds led the charge by scoring 21 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Edmonds is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 21 or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Keeniya Kelly, who scored 13 points along with seven steals.
The win was the fourth in a row for Hopewell, bringing their record for this year to 15-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Meadowbrook, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hopewell will take on the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Matoaca focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Tuesday. As for Meadowbrook, they will stay at home for another game and welcome the Royals at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Prince George is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
