The Central Cabarrus Vikings scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Concord 64-18 at home. Central Cabarrus has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 21 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Central Cabarrus to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jahnae Duncan, who scored 13 points along with seven assists and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Cruz, who scored nine points along with 15 rebounds and four steals.
Despite the defeat, Concord had strong showings from Myajah Nix, who scored 11 points, and Natalie Nebrich, who scored two points along with eight rebounds and seven blocks. That was a full 61.1% of Concord's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Concord struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Central Cabarrus racked up 11 assists.
Central Cabarrus' win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-6. As for Concord, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.
Central Cabarrus will square off against Indian Land at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Indian Land focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Thursday. As for Concord, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against East Rowan at 4:30 p.m.
