The Island Coast Gators's four-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They walked away with a 36-29 win over Bonita Springs. The victory was just what Island Coast needed coming off of a 60-17 defeat in their prior contest.
Island Coast found their leader in underclassman Samarrah Desir, who scored 23 points. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Curry, who scored nine points.
Island Coast's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-6. As for Bonita Springs, they bumped their record down to 3-7 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Island Coast will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Cape Coral at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024. Bonita Springs will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Riverdale at 7:30 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
