The Century Jaguars will head out to face off against the Glencoe Crimson Tide at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
Century had taken Sherwood down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Jaguars lost 12-2 to the Bowmen. The Jaguars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Century saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Damien Elizarraras, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. Gavin Chesler also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Glencoe had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past the Vikings 14-0. The contest marked the Crimson Tide's most dominant victory of the season so far.
Lucas Culbertson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
In other pitching news, Connor Anderson looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Glencoe: the team is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise.
Back at the plate, Nathan Huntley was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Lincoln Schmidt, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Glencoe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Glencoe pushed their record up to 6-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Century, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Century was able to grind out a solid win over Glencoe in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 14-9. Do the Jaguars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Crimson Tide turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
