Football Game Preview: Oak Harbor Wildcats vs. Mount Vernon Bulldogs + How To Watch

The Oak Harbor Wildcats will venture away from home to challenge the Mount Vernon Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Oak Harbor not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since October 11, 2024 (when they won 49-20). They breezed past Marysville Getchell to the tune of 41-14. The Wildcats' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Dylan Ebersberger and Jacob Espinoza. Ebersberger rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries while Espinoza rushed for 149 yards and one TD on only 15 carries. Those 149 rushing yards gave Espinoza a new career-high. Joseph Lewis was another key player, rushing for 71 yards and a pair of scores on only ten carries.

Oak Harbor was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 389 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Mount Vernon won against Ferndale last Thursday with 42 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Bulldogs put the hurt on Snohomish with a sharp 42-21 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Oak Harbor better keep an eye on Kaiden Anderson. He was instrumental in Mount Vernon's win, throwing for 219 yards and three TDs.

Oak Harbor's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Mount Vernon, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Everything came up roses for Oak Harbor against Mount Vernon in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 49-20 victory. In that matchup, the Wildcats amassed a halftime lead of 35-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
