DeSoto (De Soto, Texas) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 42-21 win over
Trinity (Euless, Texas).
The Eagles scored 14 points in the first quarter. DeSoto scored on a
Dontre Wilson touchdown run, a touchdown, a touchdown pass by
Desmond White to
Rasheed Dashiell and a touchdown.
DHS was up 28-7 at the half after taking the lead on a Wilson touchdown run in the first quarter.
Both teams scored 14 points in the third quarter, so the margin remained at 21 entering the fourth.
The Trojans'
Remel Newton was the standout player for his team. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns.
The De Soto school's most effective player was Wilson. The running back ran for three touchdowns and caught one touchdown.
The loss comes after Trinity defeated Union 21-18 last week. With the win the Eagles extended their winning streak to three games.
Trinity (1-2) will play a 5A Region I District 6 game against Heritage next week. The Panthers go into the week with a record of 3-0.
