Montgomery's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Blount is ranked 181st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Blount lost, one person who can't be blamed is Andrew Williams. Despite the final result, he scored 26 points along with 3 steals. Williams is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jaiden Beck, who scored 15 points.
Mary G. Montgomery's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Blount, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mary G. Montgomery will take on Theodore at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Theodore is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. As for Blount, they will be playing at home against Jackson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Jackson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Thursday.
