The Somonauk/Leland Bobcats will head out on the road to challenge the Harvest Christian Academy Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Somonauk/Leland's game was all tied up 15-15 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against Streator by a score of 42-34. The victory was just what Somonauk/Leland needed coming off of a 61-25 defeat in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, Harvest Christian Academy can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They breezed by Earlville at home to the tune of 57-25. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Harvest Christian Academy had established a 23 point advantage.
Harvest Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ellie Semerau led the charge by scoring 12 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Semerau has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Burke, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Somonauk/Leland's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-21. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.7 points per game. As for Harvest Christian Academy, they now have a winning record of 12-11.
