The Marion Swamp Foxes had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They walked away with a 52-40 victory over Lee Central. Given Marion's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Lee Central is ranked 145th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Jamarius Williams, who scored 15 points along with two steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriel Cusack, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Several Stallions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rjay Spann, who scored six points along with two steals. Spann hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Kiauj Allen, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Marion's win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Lee Central, their loss dropped their record down to 12-8.
Marion will be playing in front of their home fans against Mullins at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lee Central, Lee Central and Andrews will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
