Central Carolina Prep suffered their biggest defeat since November 10, 2023 last Friday. They were the victim of a tough 76-51 defeat at the hands of Elevation Prep Academy. Central Carolina Prep was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-20.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from CJ Miller, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of TJ Miller, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though Elevation Prep Academy scored an imposing 71 points on Thursday, Charlotte Elite Academy still came out on top. Charlotte Elite Academy snuck past Elevation Prep Academy with a 75-71 victory. Given Charlotte Elite Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while Elevation Prep Academy is ranked 325th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Charlotte Elite Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan King, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. King also posted eight assists for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Antoine Boone, who scored 16 points.
Central Carolina Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Charlotte Elite Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
Monday's game is shaping up to be a scrappy match: Central Carolina Prep have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 30.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Charlotte Elite Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 27.7 rebounds per game. Given Central Carolina Prep's sizeable advantage in that area, Charlotte Elite Academy will need to find a way to close that gap.
Central Carolina Prep took a serious blow against Charlotte Elite Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, falling 63-26.
