Two dominant backs in Tyshaun Jeter and Lionel Brooks are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The South Gibson Hornets will be playing at home against the Spring Hill Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Gibson will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
South Gibson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Millington Central, posting a 49-7 victory. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 27 points or more this season.

South Gibson's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaxon Young, who picked up 137 receiving yards and one TD, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. Those 137 receiving yards gave Young a new career-high. Cade Beaver was another key back, rushing for 88 yards and one score.
South Gibson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 293 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 158 rushing yards in nine consecutive contests.
South Gibson didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Young and Jerimiah Goad.
Meanwhile, Spring Hill was able to grind out a solid victory over White House on Thursday, taking the game 41-34. The Raiders pushed the score to 34-10 by the end of the third, a deficit the Blue Devils cut but never quite recovered from.
Spring Hill's win came from a few key players South Gibson will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jonah Gipson, who rushed for 51 yards on only six carries, and also threw for 57 yards and one TD while completing 83.3% of his passes. His passing game has become a key predictor of Spring Hill's success: the team is 3-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-4 otherwise.
South Gibson's record is now 8-3. As for Spring Hill, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. South Gibson has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 298.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Spring Hill struggles in that department as they've been averaging 212 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
