Baseball Recap: Gordonsville Wins Going Away Against Red Boiling Springs

Gordonsville got themselves on the board against Red Boiling Springs on Thursday, but Red Boiling Springs never followed suit. They blew past the Bulldogs 19-0. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 13 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

J. Foster was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other pitching news, Matthew Blankenship looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Gordonsville got a massive performance out of James Peoples, who got on base in both of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Peoples a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dalton Hancock, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Gordonsville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Gordonsville is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Red Boiling Springs, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-20.

Looking ahead, Gordonsville will be playing in front of their home fans against Clay County at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Red Boiling Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
