Fowler and Burlington are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. The Grizzlies are taking a road trip to face off against the Cougars at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Fowler is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Swink on Wednesday. The Grizzlies had just enough and edged out the Lions 7-6. The victory continues a trend for the Grizzlies in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won four in a row.
Brock True made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.

In other batting news, Weston Johnson was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Cael True also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Burlington). They blew past Goodland 10-0 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.
Like Fowler, Burlington also got a great game from a two-way player: Lenny Ramirez. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. With that strong performance, Ramirez is now averaging an impressive 6.5 strikeouts per game. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Erik Cano, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Darian McDonough was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Burlington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Goodland only posted an OBP of .333.
Fowler picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 4-2. As for Burlington, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Everything went Fowler's way against Burlington when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Fowler made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Grizzlies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
