Baseball Recap: Parkway Central's Win Ends Eight-Game Losing Streak at Home

Parkway Central won against Hillsboro last Tuesday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Colts blew past the Webster Groves Statesmen 11-1. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Colts this season.

Colin Applebaum made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Applebaum was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, James Huff was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Jared Chorlins was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Parkway Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Parkway Central's victory ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-5. As for Webster Groves, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Parkway Central will take on Priory at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Webster Groves, they will challenge Burroughs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the Statesmen their first taste of in-conference action this season.
