Saint Viator is 2-8 against Marian Catholic since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Lions will be playing at home against the Spartans at 10:00 a.m. Saint Viator will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
Having struggled with five losses in a row, Saint Viator turned things around against Harvest Christian Academy on Thursday. They came out on top against Harvest Christian Academy by a score of 14-9.

Carley Heiden made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.
In other pitching news, Isabella DiMarco looked comfortable as she tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
Back at the plate, Saint Viator let Ava Moreno and Maggie Ratzki run wild. Moreno went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Ratzki went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Ratzki has posted since back in March of 2024. Gemma DelBoccio was another key player, going 3-for-4 with six RBI, one run, and one double.
Saint Viator kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 6-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Marian Catholic never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on Tinley Park with a sharp 9-0 win. The Spartans not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 15th (when they won 11-1).
The result came thanks to Jackie Pollock's shutout, as she gave up just five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kendyl Rainey was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Abby Gustavson, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Marian Catholic's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-15. As for Saint Viator, their win bumped their record up to 10-20.
Saint Viator took their victory against Marian Catholic in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 13-3 score. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
