Wilmington has gone 9-1 against Peotone recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Peotone will be up against a hot Wilmington squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Wildcats put the hurt on Lisle with a sharp 10-4 victory on Tuesday. With that win, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Kyle Farrell and Cooper Holman made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Farrell didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Holman struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Farrell has posted over his last four games. At the plate, Farrell got on base in two of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run, while Holman went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dierks Geiss, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ryan Kettman, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Peotone gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Hillcrest 12-2. That's two games straight that the Blue Devils have won by exactly ten runs.
Joe Hasse was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Leitelt, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Peotone was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Wilmington's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-7. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Peotone, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-13.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Wilmington has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Peotone struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Wilmington skirted past Peotone 5-4 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
