Softball Recap: Box Elder Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Box Elder won the last time they faced Viewmont and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Bees were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Vikings. Considering the Bees have won 15 matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kennadie Blackmer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Alexis Hales was incredible, firing off three home runs and six RBI while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in runs (three). Another player making a difference was Brooke Richards, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Box Elder is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Viewmont, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Box Elder will face off against Mountain Crest at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in the Bees' favor as the team sits on 13 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while the Mustangs have been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road. As for Viewmont, they will challenge Northridge at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
