Marion-Franklin extended the longest winning streak in Columbus City - South this week by beating Walnut Ridge, 7-6. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Marion-Franklin and the Scots played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Marion-Franklin eventually emerging with a 7-6 victory. Joe Alverson threw for 10 yards and one touchdown and ran for 46 yards in the win.
Walnut Ridge's dynamic duo of Marquez Toney and Malik Robinson proved tough for Brian Haffele's team to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Toney threw for 151 yards and one touchdown and Robinson had 80 yards receiving. Rob Wheelwright helped Walnut Ridge's passing attack out by catching five balls for 62 yards.
Vincent Rambo was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 242 yards on 17 carries as Independence lost to the Red Devils. Kaavon Parker also contributed to the rushing game with 36 yards on the ground.
The Scots' Toney and Wheelwright have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Columbus City - South in both passing and receiving yards. Toney has thrown for 770 yards this season, while Wheelwright, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 27 catches for 497 yards. Rambo from the 76ers leads the league in rushing with 1007 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when West takes on Walnut Ridge. At the moment, the Cowboys are in second, while the Scots are in fourth.
Eastmoor Academy took down Briggs 68-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
