Basketball Game Preview: Severance Silver Knights vs. Pueblo South Colts

The Severance Silver Knights and the Pueblo South Colts will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Severance knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Pueblo South likes a good challenge.

Severance saw some tournament action on Thursday. They came out on top against Riverdale Ridge by a score of 57-46. The contest marked the Silver Knights' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Cannon Rank was his usual excellent self, going 5 of 10 on his way to 18 points and five rebounds. Those 18 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Damarii Wright, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Pueblo South, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with a 36-29 win over Village on Thursday.

Pueblo South found their leader in sophomore Christian Vigil, who posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Caeden Herrera, who had seven points.

Pueblo South pushed their record up to 2-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points per game. As for Severance, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Severance won a game that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, slipping by Pueblo South 59-58. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Pueblo South's Maurice Austin, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine assists.
