Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Wheeler Wildcats, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were beaten by Buford 50-0 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Wheeler can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 81st, while Buford is ranked sixth).
Leading Buford to victory were Kj Bolden and Dylan Raiola. Bolden picked up 138 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Raiola threw for 229 yards and four touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. Raiola hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for three straight games.
This is the second loss in a row for Wheeler and nudges their season record down to 7-4. As for Buford, they have yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 10-1 record.
Wheeler does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Buford will take on Norcross at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Norcross is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
