The Downsville Demons lost against the Calvin Cougars back in January of 2018, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Downsville had to suffer through a rough 65-23 loss at the hands of Calvin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Downsville in their matchups with Calvin: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite the loss, Downsville still got an impressive performance from Piper Bennett, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Bennett scored a full 60.9% of Downsville's points, the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Amber Nappier, who scored 7 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals.
Downsville bumped their record down to 2-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.0 points per game. As for Calvin, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Downsville will challenge D'Arbonne Woods at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Calvin will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Montgomery at 6:00 p.m. on December 7th.
