The Caston Comets won the last time they faced the North Miami Warriors, and things went their way on Thursday too. Caston came out on top against North Miami by a score of 55-46. Given Caston's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while North Miami is ranked 232nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Caston's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isabel Scales, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Scales is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Madisyn Douglass was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, North Miami still got an impressive performance from Kaiden Hanley, who scored 28 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Hanley is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Laney Musall, who scored 12 points.
Caston's win bumped their record up to 18-1. As for North Miami, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.
Caston will stay at home for another game and welcome Carroll at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Carroll is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.6 points per game. North Miami will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Wabash at 7:45 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Wabash focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Wednesday.
