Softball Recap: Grafton Finds Playoff Glory Versus Lafayette

With a playoff win on the line, Grafton rose to the challenge on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Lafayette Rams with a sharp 20-3 win. Considering the Clippers have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Alexis Henley was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kami Mendiola, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Grafton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .892. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Grafton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Lafayette, they are on a 42-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-21.

Coming up, Grafton will head out to face off against Colonial Heights at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Lafayette does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
