Softball Recap: Lafayette Wins Going Away Against Southaven

Lafayette won the last time they faced Southaven and things went their way on Friday too. Everything went the Lafayette Commodores' way against the Southaven Chargers as the Lafayette Commodores made off with a 14-3 win.

Sydney Cregar made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Cregar was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Mary Madison Kelley was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Braleigh Crowe, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Lafayette now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Southaven, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Lafayette has already played their next contest, an 18-0 victory against Olive Branch on the 1st. As for Southaven, they will challenge Lafayette at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lafayette is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.
