Hutchinson (Kan.) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. six in Kansas, but was stunned by
South (Salina, Kan.), 28-10. South was ranked at No. eight in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Kansas coming into the week.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Cody Busby in the second quarter, the Cougars led 14-10 at the half.
South expanded its lead to 11 points entering the fourth quarter. SHS scored once in the quarter on a touchdown run by Busby.
Dakota Brower played well for the Salt Hawks. The senior running back ran for one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to four on the year.
Busby stood out for the Salina school in the win. The senior running back ran for three touchdowns. He has now scored 10 touchdowns on the season.
Hutchinson's lone touchdown came on a run by Brower in the first quarter.
The Cougars got revenge for last year's 42-24 loss to HHS with the victory.
The loss comes after Hutchinson defeated Newton 48-29 last week.
Hutchinson (3-2) will play a Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail Division I game against Derby next week, while South (4-1) will take on Newton also in a Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail Division I game.
