The Clarksville Academy Cougars fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Mount Juliet Christian Academy Saints on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Saints by a score of 20-18. Clarksville Academy's defeat continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it seven in a row.
Ethan Bones threw for 167 yards and a touchdown. Andrayas Scott was his top target, picking up 79 receiving yards.
Mount Juliet Christian Academy found their leader in underclassman Kayden (KK) Curtis, who picked up 110 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Curtis was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 62 yards.
Clarksville Academy's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-1 Middle Tennessee Christian and 7-3 Columbia Academy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 61.3% over those games). As for Mount Juliet Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
Clarksville Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mount Juliet Christian Academy will head out on the road to face off against Donelson Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
