The Lake Minneola Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 68-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of IMG Academy Blue. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Lake Minneola came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while IMG Academy Blue is ranked 285th).
Lake Minneola's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aliyah Perry, who scored 16 points. Patricia Casimir was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Lake Minneola has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-7 record this season. As for IMG Academy Blue, their victory ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-4.
Lake Minneola will head out on the road to challenge Forest Lake Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. IMG Academy Blue won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Sarasota at 11:00 a.m. on January 13th. Hopefully Sarasota focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday.
