4A Conference 13 recap September 24, 2013
Panther Creek scaled the state rankings by moving to 51 from 110 this week, the biggest jump in 4A Conference 13. The Catamount climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Leesville Road 34-21.
Fuquay-Varina was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in the league. Earlier in the week, the Bengals triumphed over Clayton 31-14.
Green Hope's dynamic duo of Luke Massei and Elijah Murrane proved tough for Athens Drive to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Massei threw for 346 yards and 4 touchdowns and Murrane had 124 yards receiving. Daniel Gretsch helped Green Hope's passing attack out by catching 8 balls for 91 yards.
The Falcons' dynamic duo of Massei and Murrane proved to be unstoppable against the Jaguars, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
He went 31-49 with 0 interception.
Damarus Williams was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 34 carries, he ran for 191 yards as Fuquay-Varina fell to Athens Drive. Tyler Williams also contributed to the rushing game with 79 yards on the ground.
Massei put up the best numbers in passing as Kwame Dixon's team fell to Chris Martin's team.
Murrane was the best receiver in 4A Conference 13 this week as the Falcons fell to the Jaguars.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Green Hope's Massei and Murrane have proven to be a lethal combination. Massei has thrown for 1,281 yards this season, while Murrane has 39 catches for 484 yards. Jeb Hall's team's Williams leads the league in rushing yards with 635.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Panther Creek takes on Athens Drive. The Catamount are currently in first, while the Jaguars are in fourth.
There should be lots of points scored when the Falcons and Cary face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Green Hope comes in having scored 151 this season, while the Imps have scored 119. The Falcons scored 26 points last week as they lost to Athens Drive.
Holly Springs took down Jordan 43-12 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kelvin Wilson ran for 147 yards and caught 1 pass for 23 yards during the win.
