It was a Battle of the Birds when Fairfield faced off against South Bend Adams on Friday. The Falcons sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over the Eagles. That's two games straight that the Falcons have won by just one run.

The team relied heavily on Avery Christner, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Garrett Stoltzfus, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Fairfield has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for South Bend Adams, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Fairfield is headed away from home for the first time to challenge Plymouth at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for South Bend Adams, they will host Mishawaka Marian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
