If the Fountain Inn Fury were riding high off their 73-34 takedown of the Polk County Wolverines on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Fountain Inn fell just short of East Henderson by a score of 55-53. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Fountain Inn came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 49th in South Carolina, while East Henderson is ranked 148th in North Carolina).
Caiden Brewer was his usual excellent self, scoring 32 points along with six rebounds and three blocks for East Henderson. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Brewer has scored at least 25% of East Henderson's points. Wyatt Taylor was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five steals.
Fountain Inn's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for East Henderson, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-2.
Fountain Inn won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Travelers Rest at 4:00 p.m. on December 29th. Travelers Rest is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak. East Henderson and North Henderson will face off at 7:10 p.m. on December 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. North Henderson knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine games -- so hopefully East Henderson likes a good challenge.
