The Silex Owls lost against the Clopton Hawks last Wednesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Silex lost to Clopton on the road by a decisive 53-36 margin. While losing is never fun, Silex can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 291st, while Clopton is ranked 74th).
Clopton was led to victory by Skylar Parker and Braya Smith. Parker scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, while Smith dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Campbell Lindsay, who scored three points along with four steals.
Silex's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Clopton, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Silex will be staying on the road on January 19th to face off against Louisiana at 5:30 p.m. on January 19th. As for Clopton, they will square off against North Callaway at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
