Bloomingdale has gone a perfect 4-0 against Chamberlain recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. Bloomingdale will host Chamberlain at 10:00 a.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bloomingdale has five straight wins, Chamberlain has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Bloomingdale gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over Sumner.
Hayden Porter tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in February.
At the plate, Mason Johnson was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits he has posted since March 1st. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Perez, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Chamberlain came up short against Wharton on Thursday, falling 14-2.
Chamberlain saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brihan Arteaga Diaz, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Benjamin Garcia also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Bloomingdale's win bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Chamberlain, their loss dropped their record down to 1-16.
Chamberlain's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. Bloomingdale has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Chamberlain, though, as they've been averaging only 3.4 strikeouts. Will Bloomingdale keep running through batters, or will Chamberlain buck the trend?
Everything went Bloomingdale's way against Chamberlain in their previous matchup back in March of 2019, as Bloomingdale made off with a 15-2 victory. Does Bloomingdale have another victory up their sleeve, or will Chamberlain turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
