Liberty is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Orange Vista is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Bison will host the Coyotes at 3:15 a.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
On Tuesday, Liberty sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over Poly. That's two games straight that the Bison have won by just one run.

Janessa Guigliano
04/08/25 @ Poly | 5 |
03/28/25 @ Hemet | 8 |
03/18/25 vs Murrieta Valley | 6 |
03/12/25 @ Shadow Hills | 7 |
03/04/25 vs Apple Valley | 8 |
02/26/25 vs Arlington | 5 |
Janessa Guigliano spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Liberty let Yasmine Lopez and Attiana Thompson run wild. Lopez went 1-for-4 with one home run, while Thompson scored a run while going 3-for-3.
They weren't the only one making solid contact: Liberty kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Orange Vista hadn't done well against Valley View recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Coyotes narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Eagles 10-9. Orange Vista's victory was all the more impressive since the Eagles were averaging only 1.94 runs allowed on the season.
Jayla Holley and Lina Robles did most of the damage at the plate: Holley went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles and three RBI, while Robles went 3-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Those three doubles gave Holley a new career-high. Makayla Overton was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Liberty has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Orange Vista, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Liberty hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .367. However, it's not like Orange Vista struggles in that department as they've averaged .358. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Liberty couldn't quite get it done against Orange Vista in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Can the Bison avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
