The Mountain View Mountain Lions won the last time they faced the Berthoud Spartans, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Mountain View pulled ahead with a 55-54 photo finish over Berthoud. The win made it back-to-back wins for Mountain View.
Mountain View can attribute much of their success to Dylan Garland, who scored 17 points along with six assists and six rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Garland has scored at least 25% of Mountain View's points. Another player making a difference was Grayson Morby, who scored 11 points.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Declan Murphy, who scored 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him. Reece Stratmeyer was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Mountain View's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-4. As for Berthoud, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.
Mountain View will head out on the road to face off against Roosevelt at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Berthoud, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Liberty Common at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Liberty Common focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Wednesday.
