Grand County is on a three-game streak of home wins, while San Juan is on a six-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. Grand County will host San Juan at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
The home team had won the previous two meetings between Grand County and North Summit, and Grand County kept the tradition alive. Grand County was the clear victor by a 17-4 margin over North Summit on Friday. The Red Devils haven't had any issues with the Braves recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Jt Dowd made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Dowd was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Romeo Williams looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.
Back at the plate, Grand County got a massive performance out of Kalan Bowden, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. What's more, Bowden posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Trace York, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI and two runs.
Grand County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, San Juan never let their opponents score on Friday. They put the hurt on Monticello with a sharp 10-0 win. San Juan's victory was all the more impressive since the Buckaroo were averaging only four runs allowed on the season.
Corbin Middlton was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Cooper Palmer, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
San Juan is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. Grand County's victory bumped their record up to 6-9.
