The Lexington Eagles had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 51-43 win over Hempstead. For Lexington, this counts as revenge for the 58-55 defeat Hempstead walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Despite the loss, Hempstead saw an underclassman step up: JaMarion Mickles scored 13 points along with 3 steals. The contest was Mickles' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kewaylon Wilson, who scored 4 points.
Lexington's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Hempstead, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
Lexington will take on Anderson-Shiro at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Anderson-Shiro is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. As for Hempstead, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lutheran at 6:40 p.m. on Friday.
