George Wythe had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Honaker Tigers on Friday, sneaking past 34-31. Winning may never get old, but the Maroons sure are getting used to it with their 13th in a row.
Honaker lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Julianna Farmer, who posted ten points and six steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carey Keene, who had six points along with eight boards and three steals.
George Wythe's win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 26-3. As for Honaker, they moved to 28-2 with that loss, which also ended their 27-game winning streak.
Coming up, George Wythe will challenge Buffalo Gap at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Buffalo Gap knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully George Wythe likes a good challenge.
