This season hasn't been kind to the Buford Yellowjackets, who are still winless after their 19th game. They were dealt a 65-35 defeat at the hands of Cheraw on Tuesday. Buford has not had much luck with the Braves recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Buford lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aaron Morris. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points along with two steals. That was a full 40% of Buford's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Buford struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They are winless (0-5) when they just don't pass the ball.
Cheraw's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elijah McClain led the charge by scoring 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McClain has scored all season. Another player making a difference was De'Shaun Drake, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Buford dropped their record down to 0-19 with that loss, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Cheraw, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-14 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Buford will take on the Volunteers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Andrew Jackson knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully the Yellowjackets likes a good challenge. As for Cheraw, they will head out on the road to square off against the Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully North Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Wednesday.
