Baseball Recap: St. Anthony's Takes a Loss

St. Anthony managed to slip by St. John the Baptist the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Friars lost 11-1 to the Cougars on Wednesday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Friars, who until this contest were averaging 2.94 runs allowed.

St. Anthony's saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Carlo, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. Carlo has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

St. Anthony's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-6. As for St. John the Baptist, their record is now 6-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Anthony's will face off against Eastport-South Manor at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. John the Baptist, they will square off against St. John's Prep at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
