Southridge hasn't had much luck against Chiawana recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Suns will host the Riverhawks at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, Southridge was able to grind out a solid win over Kennewick, taking the game 11-8. The Suns haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Avery Garvey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off 13 hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with one home run and seven RBI. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Mallory Idler was a standout: she scored three runs while going 4-for-5. Jadyn Holdren was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Chiawana, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Pasco a 17-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Riverhawks have won six matchups by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Southridge, Chiawana also got a great game from a two-way player: Gabriella Garza. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Garza was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Chiawana got a massive performance out of Amelia Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Jessica Melendez, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3.
Chiawana always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .808. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Southridge pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Chiawana, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Southridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .412. However, it's not like Chiawana struggles in that department as they've averaged .388. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Southridge might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Chiawana in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Suns have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
