Southeast Kansas recap September 24, 2013
Independence scaled the state rankings by moving to 183 from 216 this week, the biggest jump in Southeast Kansas. The Bulldogs were able to move up by defeating Labette County 46-7.
Independence made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,290 from 13,085. The improvement came about via a 46-7 victory over the Grizzlies last week.
Field Kindley's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Golden Tornado feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Nathan Finley has thrown for 475 yards and 5 touchdowns this season, while Darron Deffebaugh has 6 catches for 251 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Pittsburg takes on Chanute. At the moment, the Dragons are in first, while the Blue Comets are in third.
The league will see a high scoring game when Field Kindley and Fort Scott face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Golden Tornado comes in having scored 171 this season, while the Tigers have scored 69. Field Kindley scored 40 points last week as it topped Iola.
Chanute led the league in scoring this week by notching 63 points on Parsons.
