Eastridge is 0-10 against Mendon since April of 2017 but things could change on Saturday. The Lancers will square off against the Vikings at 10:00 a.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Eastridge 3.3, Mendon 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
If Eastridge beats Mendon with six runs on Saturday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The Lancers beat Honeoye Falls-Lima on Thursday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 6-1. The Lancers haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Evan Bishop made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Eastridge is 7-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-9 otherwise. Bishop was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Xzavier Hughey was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Mendon extended their postseason success on Thursday against East. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 12-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Ethan Postle spent all seven innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Samuel Harrigan, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Cam Barbulean was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Mendon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in five consecutive games.
Mendon is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Eastridge, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Eastridge has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Mendon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Eastridge came up short against Mendon in their previous meeting on May 6th, falling 5-2. Can the Lancers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
