East Nicolaus has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Colusa RedHawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but East Nicolaus had no problem doing just that on Friday. They claimed a resounding 49-0 win over Williams at home. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point East Nicolaus had established a 42 point advantage.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead East Nicolaus to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tristan Kotko, who rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Kotko was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 55 yards. Jake Mackey and his 85 yards on the ground were also a key factor in East Nicolaus' victory.
Meanwhile, Colusa is still undefeated this season after their match against East Nicolaus two weeks ago, but East Nicolaus came as close as anyone has to beating them. Colusa came out on top in a nail-biter against East Nicolaus and snuck past 21-18.
Colusa's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Adan Travis led the charge by rushing for 105 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Humphrey, who picked up 121 receiving yards and a touchdown.
East Nicolaus now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Colusa, they pushed their record up to 10-0 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Friday's match might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. East Nicolaus has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 254.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Colusa struggles in that department as they've been averaging 170.9 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
