If the Cocoa Beach Minutemen were feeling good off their 81-45 takedown of the Space Coast Vipers on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Cocoa Beach took a 55-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Shore on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Cocoa Beach has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Cocoa Beach still got an impressive performance from Max Louis, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Louis hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Tyden Cheatham, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Cocoa Beach struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Beau Couture was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with six rebounds and three steals for West Shore. Those 24 points set a new season-high mark for him. Matt Boucher was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Cocoa Beach's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for West Shore, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cocoa Beach will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Merritt Island at 7:00 p.m. on January 8th. West Shore and Palm Bay will face off at 1:00 p.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Palm Bay will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
