The Avella Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 91-68 walloping at the hands of Union Area. The match was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly Avella struggled afterwards.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Westley Burchianti, who scored 27 points along with two steals. Burchianti is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Bryce Wright was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with four steals.
Avella struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Avella has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Union Area, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-10.
Avella does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Union Area also has no future games currently scheduled.
