While losing is never fun, Jeff Davis can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 426th, while Dodge County is ranked 75th).
When it comes to explaining why Jeff Davis lost, one person who can't be blamed is Malachi Smith. Despite the final result, he scored 24 points. The game was Smith's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of L'earl Conaway, who scored 13 points.
Dodge County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaedon Mcclendon led the charge by scoring 19 points. Jerimiah Burns was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Jeff Davis' loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Dodge County, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jeff Davis and Telfair County will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Dodge County, they will head out on the road to face off against Fitzgerald at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
