Summers County is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Clay County is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Summers County Bobcats will take on the Clay County Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Summers County humbled Pocahontas County with a 57-12 victory.
Summers County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brandan Isaac, who threw for 366 yards and five touchdowns on only 16 passes. Isaac is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Oliveros, who picked up 217 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Clay County never let their opponents score on Friday. They claimed a resounding 73-0 victory over Mount View at home.
Noah Collins was his usual excellent self, throwing for 190 yards and five touchdowns. Collins hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Bj Williams, who picked up 94 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Summers County has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Clay County, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as both teams have no problem gaining yardage. Summers County has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 425.1 total yards per game. However, it's not like Clay County struggles in that department as they've been even better at 442 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Summers County came up short against Clay County in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 28-19. Will Summers County have more luck at home instead of on the road?
