Grand Traverse Academy is 1-7 against Leland since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Grand Traverse Academy Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Leland Comets at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Grand Traverse Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, it was close, but Grand Traverse Academy sidestepped Harbor Light Christian for a 28-25 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Grand Traverse Academy.
Grand Traverse Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Megan Pavwoski, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three blocks. Pavwoski is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sadie Brown, who scored five points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Leland came up short against Benzie Central on Thursday and fell 36-29. Leland has struggled against Benzie Central recently, as their game on Thursday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
The victory got Grand Traverse Academy back to even at 3-3. As for Leland, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Grand Traverse Academy, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 40-25 loss to Leland when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Grand Traverse Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
