Delta has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Shelbyville Golden Bears at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Jillian Barr and Ava Wilson.
Delta suffered their biggest loss since November 7, 2023 on Thursday. They were the victim of a tough 60-36 defeat at the hands of Jay County. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Delta has suffered against Jay County since January 18, 2018.
Despite the defeat, Delta saw an underclassman step up: Barr scored 14 points along with nine blocks and six rebounds. Barr is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Paizley Cool, who scored three points along with eight rebounds and six blocks.
Meanwhile, Shelbyville put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 60-35 margin over Whiteland. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Shelbyville has posted since December 8, 2023.
Delta's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Shelbyville, they pushed their record up to 13-7 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Delta took a serious blow against Shelbyville in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 66-31. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Delta was down 39-12.
