There's no place like home for the Papillion-LaVista Monarchs, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 50-35 victory over Elkhorn South on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Papillion-LaVista also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Papillion-LaVista can attribute much of their success to Taliyah Jackson, who scored 11 points along with 3 steals. The matchup was Jackson's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jayda Richardson, who scored 8 points.
Elkhorn South's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mollie Probasco, who scored 8 points along with 6 rebounds. Alexa Eddie was another key contributor, scoring 6 points.
Papillion-LaVista now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Elkhorn South, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Papillion-LaVista will challenge Grand Island at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday. As for Elkhorn South, they will head out on the road to face off against Norfolk at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Norfolk comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
